Intel Wireless Display 3.5 makes WiDi Miracast-compatible, essentially turning WiDi into.
This is Intel’s attempt at offering a wireless video and audio streaming system that could compete with Apple’s AirPlay. These mini PCs, some no bigger than 4-inches tall and 4. We only know it will be cost-effective relative to current Intel WiDi monitor solutions that are on the market right now. WiDi is short for Intel Wireless Display, a feature associated with Intel’s Wi-Fi Direct standard. Streamlabs has teamed up with hardware partners Intel, Zotac, Acer, Simply NUC, and Shuttle to create easy plug-and-play streaming PCs. No pricing or availability is currently available. LG’s new 23.8 inch WiDi LCD monitor is currently being displayed at Intel’s IDF event in San Francisco from today until September 12th. When it debuted, WiDi only came built-in on three laptops from Dell, Toshiba, and Sony respectively. We can now stream PC content on our TVs without the need for messy cables, all using Wireless Display Technology, commonly referred to as WiDi. This allows for a more native WiDi experience and the technology will allow smaller and more cost-effective WiDi solutions. Fortunately, Intel has come up with a solution. While their are WiDi compatible monitors on the market already LG’s new display is the first to build the WiDi processing directly into the display’s controller, not simply add a separate PCB and chip which runs alongside the main display controller. The new monitor from LG Display uses a 23.8 inch LCD panel and is fully compatible with Intel’s Wireless Display broadcasting display standard WiDi which allows users to easily stream content from their notebook or desktop to this monitor. If your computer’s hardware is not compatible with WiDi, the Update Tool will abort (shown below) and you won’t be able to take advantage of Intel’s Wireless Display technology.
It will tell you whether your computer supports Intel WiDi and update any software or drivers needed to get it working.
